RE: NICE guideline on Menopause: diagnosis and management

The draft scope for this NICE guideline is now out for consultation and we have registered as a Stakeholder for the review.

This means we would like to collate and submit your comments on the Scoping document (and the Equality Impact Assessment if you so wish) directly to NICE, to help inform decisions about the scope of the review.

It’s a valuable opportunity to ensure that the guideline considers issues important to us and the people we represent in our individual menopause spaces so it would be amazing to get as many perspectives as possible!

We are all super busy and your time is precious, so we’ve tried to make it easy to contribute. Here are a few ways you can do so, and even if just a few words we would love to hear from you!

  1. Directly onto the PDF on the link HERE or see the attachment and then email this to me

  2. Via the Comments Form HERE

  3. Directly into an email

  4. Email a voice note of your comments specifying the line number you’re commenting on

If you chose option 3 or 4 you must specify the scoping documet line number you’re commenting on.

Things to Think About…

You might consider these things to think about in your responses

Does the scope:

  1. Cover issues important for people affected by the guidelines?

  2. Include medicines, procedures and other treatments or options for care that may be important?

  3. Include treatments or other interventions that are currently used, but may not be effective, acceptable or tolerable to people using services?

  4. Note any equality issues or aspects of care or services that the guideline should address (for example, cultural differences that may affect the use of an intervention or approach to care)?

  5. Promote equality of opportunity regardless of age, disability, sex, gender identity, ethnicity, religion and belief, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status?

  6. Unfairly exclude any groups (for example, by age or general health)?

  7. Use wording that is respectful of people using services, carers and people working in health or social care?

  8. Explain how the guideline will fit with government policies?

  9. Identify other major related projects (such as promotional campaigns) that should be used when developing the guideline?

We'll compile a submission of all the comments then individual submissions will be deleted from our records. Individual submissions won’t be stored once the report has been compiled so please arrange for your own copy of your comments to be saved.

Any questions please email me and you can find out more information about the review HERE

Thank you so much, every contribution is valuable and we look forward to hearing from you.

Please respond by 1st March.
